Mission Statement
Friends of San Diego Architecture was established in 1985 for the purpose of bringing together lay people and design professionals for mutual education and enlightenment. We create a community forum to explore the built environment by presenting public lectures and discussions, by curating an online library of architectural images, and by recognizing promising architecture and design students and professionals.
Moving Forward
On January 6, 2012, Friends of San Diego Architecture (FSDA) became a non-profit corporation. FSDA’s 501(c)(3) status now allows tax-exempt deductions for donations from the many friends who have supported the grassroots organization since its founding in 1985. Donations funded the Harriet Gill Award established in 2010, helped put the Ned Paynter Collection online, and underwrote our other competitions and exhibits.
Support FSDA
The best way you can support FSDA’s mission is with your attendance at our lectures, by inviting others to share in those informative and enlightening experiences, and by supporting our local architecture and design community. Friends of San Diego Architecture (FSDA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation that does not depend on membership fees. We rely on donations at the lectures and monetary gifts from individuals.
Our immediate need is funding to improve our image collection. Diane Kane, PhD in Architectural History, donated over 2700 slides to FSDA. They have been digitized but need more work before adding to our image library.
