The San Diego Housing Ladder: Integrating Opportunities for All
January 16th, 2010
Susan Riggs Tinsky is an attorney at Best Best & Krieger LLP, specializing in municipal, redevelopment and affordable housing law. She received her J.D. magna cum laude from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in 2008. She also holds a masters degree in city planning from San Diego State University and currently teaches Housing Policy in the Master of City Planning program. Ms. Tinsky is on the board of directors for Citizens for Century Coordinate 3 and Walk San Diego.
In 2005 Susan was Vice President of Government Affairs at San Diego Association of Realtors and, at that time, FSDA was designing a “Granny Flat” competition to encourage city government to implement a workable ordinance. Since both SDAR and FSDA had a common interest in the “Granny Flat” legislation, we approached SDAR about giving us some financial support in return for a sponsorship. To our surprise and delight, SDAR gave us a $10,000 check. After the competition, Susan and some other SDAR Board members marketed our competition and winning designs throughout the state to encourage new legislation. Susan is truly a leader in finding solutions for San Diego’s housing problems.
