A Sustainable Landscape for San Diego’s International Airport

Ms. Trauth is the Principal Landscape Architect for RICK Engineering and manages landscape architectural services and staff in their eight offices throughout the western region. She joined RICK Engineering in February, 2016. As a licensed landscape architect in California, a certified planner and a LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP), she has planned and designed numerous public and private projects throughout San Diego and the Los Angeles region. Her projects have received awards from organizations including the American Planning Association (APA), Urban Land Institute (ULI), Construction Management Association of America (CMAA), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Public Works Association (APWA), and Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC).

Ms. Trauth was the President of the San Diego Chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) in 2014 and has been actively involved in the organization for a number of years, including two terms as Vice President. In 2015, she was appointed by the Governor of the State of California to the Landscape Architects Technical Committee, which regulates the profession throughout the state. She has also served on the board of the South County Economic Development Council and remains an active member in the organization. In addition, she was the Statewide President of California Women in Environmental Design.

Her publications include Mission First – Smart Growth for Navy and Marine Corps Installations, presented at the American Planning Association Federal Division Annual Conference, 2012; and You Can’t Fake Sincerity – Time Tested Rules for Public Participation, presented at the Land Development West Symposium, 2007 and the American Planning Association California Conference, 2006. Ms. Trauth has taught landscape architecture courses at San Diego State University, NewSchool of Architecture & Design, and San Diego Mesa College.

Ms. Trauth graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design and a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1979. She has a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Arizona, which she acquired in 1987.
