September 18, 2010
Over the course of his sixty-year career, Architect William Krisel has brought modernism to the masses, designing more than 40,000 individual housing units across the U.S. Krisel’s influential work has become synonymous with mid-20th century Southern Californian design. “I’m a firm believer that good modern design can make your life happier, more productive and more enjoyable,” says Krisel.
His projects include everything from single story to 30 stories in height located from California to Florida. Besides housing, Mr. Krisel has designed a wide range of other projects including low and high rise office buildings, shopping centers, industrial buildings, factories, schools, hospitals, religious buildings, hotels, motels and restaurants.
In addition to architecture, Mr. Krisel has provided the landscape design to many of his projects. The total value of completed construction from his designs exceeds three billion dollars.
A film documentary, William Krisel, Architect, by Design Onscreen explores his life and work, including his roots in 1930s China, his ground-breaking designs for modern living, and interviews with scholars, his contemporaries and family.
