Kate Goodson
Kate Goodson is a designer, entrepreneur, and seeker of the next urban revolution. In 2016, Kate founded POP/ARCH, a placemaking studio that works to transform underutilized public spaces into vibrant community assets. Her work includes the Lemon Grove Citronica Park, the Island Avenue Redesign, the Window Stories Interactive Art Installation, and the Rob Nelson Memorial Parklet.
Kate will be speaking on the grass-roots origin of the placemaking movement and how local architects, designers, and developers may play a positive role in the proliferation and activation of public spaces throughout the San Diego region. Kate will also speak to the economics of placemaking, addressing the challenges and opportunities associated with funding and operating these projects. She hopes this discussion will inspire others, empowering more designers and design enthusiasts to participate in the local placemaking movement.
