Is Smart Growth Really Smart?
September 2005
Mr. Weber is a familiar face to Friends of San Diego Architecture. He has presented talks twice in the past and we always look forward to having Mr. Weber share his thoughts on land issues.
Although the subject will be on “smart growth”, we are hoping to have time after break to touch on “eminent domain” and give us his assessment of the El Cajon Blvd. revitalization’s long-range plan.
Mr. Weber has specialized in land use matters throughout his career. He formed his own consulting business in 1977 after ten years in the public sector. He has engaged privately in real estate acquisition and rehabilitation, in addition to land use consulting services. He is currently engaged in the application of smart growth principles to neighborhood business district revitalization.
GRW & Associates is a home-based business, relying on sub-contractors for special services. Over the years GRW & Associates has consulted with both local government entities and community-based organizations in providing services related to program and policy development, land use analysis, urban design, economic analysis, marketing and promotion, fundraising, cyber technology and contract management.
Mr. Weber has successfully developed revitalization programs from the idea stage to brick and mortar. He has an excellent fundraising track record and has instigated a number of successful events and promotional activities.
