Online Lecture via Zoom (link below)
Saturday, September 26 at 9:30 a.m.

What would Millennial architecture students at NewSchool of Architecture and Design do with Balboa Park’s erstwhile stepchild, the Palisades area?

Once the bustling center of the 1935-36 California Pacific International Exposition, it’s been a dreary asphalt parking lot ever since, home today of the Air & Space Museum, San Diego Automotive Museum, Municipal Gym and Starlight Bowl.

The Comic-Con Museum is coming in 2021 and the park’s Committee of 100 support group wanted to generate some excitement.

Under the tutelage of NSAD Professor (and FSDA board member) Mike Stepner, the students spent their intersession last winter dreaming up new ideas – like a night garden, a food hall, and a tribute to the Kumeyaay.

In the first lecture of our 2020 season, three of the now graduated students, Nelson Tommy Hernandez, Francesca Redetzke, and Kaylee Drexel, will describe their vision. C100 President Roger Showley, an FSDA board member and retired Union-Tribune reporter, will moderate.

9:30 a.m., Saturday, September 26, on Zoom (link).
